                                                          News Article

The Great Wall of China began to be built in 220 B.C. and wasn't finished in till roughly 1500 A.D. several people supported Emperor Qin for his grand idea of the creation of the great wall, and other patronized him, and despised him for his decision.
The great wall was intentionally made to protect china, from one of it's biggest enemies back in ancient china. The Mongols, they weren't the only nomadic people who attacked small villages near the northern border of china, but they definitely were the most harmful to china. Another reason the Great Wall was built was because china wanted to prevent all wars, battles, or conflicts between them and other bordering countries, because Emperor Qin had tried so hard to unify china by creating new currency, and a new language that the last thing he wanted was for his empire to end.
With the good aspects of the great wall, there also come bad ones. For example, the wall is so long that china was practically drained of their resources. Also since the wall was so large Emperor Qin wasn't able to build the whole thing with the saves that he'd captured from various battles. So he forces hundreds of villagers to work on the wall against their wills. This ultimately killed all of the people that worked on the wall, from exhaustion, fainting and dying, or freezing to death. Also by creating this wall, Emperor Qin had to cut off several trade routes, making it nearly impossible to exchange goods from either side of the wall.
The subject is debatable, wether Emperor Qin helped china prosper by preserving its culture, or if he made a terrible decision building the great wall, because he cut his empire off from the
 rest of the world.
